Honestly, I didn't find anything offensive about the first ad either. Men do need to hold other men accountable. It is something I have always believed in. One should call out the mistakes of one's own tribe first. That is how we change things for the better.
The older ad is a classic, but the newer one is more in context with how the society is today. It is not about generalizing all men, but about what women truly find admirable in a man. Manliness isn't about pumping out in the gym but standing up for someone when you see them wronged. At least that's my personal take on it....
