I also sometimes think, it is not just to be aware but aware of the real facts. Many people start taking sides mindlessly in a war because of their tribal affinities and that I think only leads to division on a global scale. Every life is precious irrespective of whose it is.

Also, I think we should be applying the same principles on the personal front. To make sure that if ever we are in the capacity to actually bring about change that we would do the right thing irrespective. All this is however easier said than done because there will always be people whose vested interests are larger than some nobody's life.( Nobody as per them). We have cheapened the value of life. As you said, we are just statistics...
