Journaling helps too. Write down your problems so that the emotions associated with it are temporarily out of your system. Then I sometimes sleep it off and the next day I can get more information on it and deal with it with a fresh mind. This way, you are neither avoiding nor anxiously reacting. Some things need to be faced head on. Avoiding only makes it worse.
