You are welcome Gayathri :) These laws were made during the British rule probably and they just carried it forward. The constitution has recently been updated with some new IPC and CrPC codes. Not sure what the changes are.

This one I just checked falls under IPC 509 and more serious ones not amounting to rape would be IPC 354.
